Call for Expression of Interest – MedSTEP NL Taskforce

NLPB is currently seeking pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to join the MedSTEP NL Taskforce. This is an exciting opportunity to impact the quality and safety of pharmacy practice in the province.

Upon the adoption, in principle, of the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) Model Standards for Continuous Quality Improvement and Medication Incident Reporting at NLPB’s last board meeting in March, NLPB staff have begun planning the development of a continuous quality improvement (CQI) program, which has been named MedSTEP NL. To help guide this development, NLPB is striking a task force, which will be responsible for providing feedback on an interpretation guide, advising on CQI program components, and recommending implementation deadlines.

In considering the elements of the CQI program, NLPB has identified common elements of CQI programs implemented in other Canadian provinces. These elements include: open communication about medication incidents, documentation and analysis of medication incidents, reporting of medication incidents and near misses to a national repository, aggregate data analysis and information sharing, and proactive risk management.

If you would like to be a part of this important piece of work, please submit your expression of interest to Noelle Patten at npatten@nlpb.ca by July 20, 2022, including a brief biography, relevant experience, and the reason you are interested in participating.
