Any person wishing to practice as a pharmacist or pharmacy technician in Newfoundland and Labrador is required to successfully complete the NLPB Registration Examination. The exam is designed to assess the applicant’s knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply provincial acts and regulations, bylaws, standards of practice, guidelines, and policies as they pertain to the practice of pharmacy in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The NLPB Registration Exam is held six times per year in February, April, June, August, October, and December. In certain circumstances, a special sitting may be arranged for an alternate location, date, or time.

Eligibility
To be eligible to register for the registration exam, you must be either pre-registered with the NLPB, a Keyin College pharmacy technician student in the final semester of their program, or a MUN School of Pharmacy student in the final year of their pharmacy program.
Application Process
- Pre-register: If you are not already registered with NLPB as a pharmacy student or intern, you must pre-register prior to registering for the exam. The pre-registration application, along with all required documentation should be received at the board office at least 7 days prior to the exam registration deadline in order to allow sufficient time for processing. After the pre-registration is processed and approved, you will be emailed a username and password to access the online NLPB registrant portal. To pre-register, fill out the applicable form below or contact Registration and Licensing.
- Register for a regular sitting: Click on “Registrant Login” on the website’s main menu and log in using your username and password. Click the “Events” button located at the top of the Member Home screen and then click “View Upcoming Events” to view available sittings. Select the desired date to complete the registration process. Once you have successfully registered for the exam, you will receive a confirmation email with information about the exam.
- Register for a special sitting: If necessary, a special sitting can be arranged for an alternate date, time, or location. Submit a completed Application to Register for a Special Sitting of the Registration Exam form. Once the application is processed and approved, you will be sent a confirmation email with information about the exam.

The Registration Examination Interpretation Guide, linked below, includes an appendix that lists the applicable references that applicants should refer to when preparing for the exam and can bring into the exam with them if they wish.
