To practice as a pharmacist, pharmacy technician, pharmacy student or intern, or pharmacy technician student or intern in Newfoundland and Labrador an individual must be registered with the College of Pharmacy of Newfoundland and Labrador. The College offers several pathways to registration, but regardless of an applicant’s pathway all applicants must meet and provide proof of the registration requirements listed below before registering with the College. Other registration requirements may be required depending on the specific registration pathway chosen.
Education
Be attending or have completed an approved CCAPP-accredited pharmacist or pharmacy technician educational program or an approved international program.
Certificate of Conduct
Provide a current certificate of conduct per the Certificate of Conduct Requirements for Registration.
Applicants residing in Canada must request their background check through CPNL’s Sterling BackCheck Portal.
English Language Proficiency
Must have a working knowledge of the English language sufficient to enable a person to practice pharmacy in the province
Professional Liability Insurance
Provide proof that professional liability insurance has been obtained per the Professional Liability Insurance Requirements for Registration.
Photo Identification
Provide photo identification issued by a federal, provincial, or territorial government, or foreign government in the case of international applicants, that is valid and current and includes a clear photo of the applicant along with their legal name and date of birth per the Professional Liability Insurance Requirements for Registration.

Successfully complete the CPNL Registration Exam.
