Pharmacy Site Visits

Pharmacy Assessments

The College of Pharmacy of Newfoundland and Labrador conducts various types of practice site assessments to support registered pharmacy professionals in meeting operational and practice standards. The assessments include:

Routine quality assurance assessments
Pre-opening assessments for newly constructed pharmacies
Renovation assessments
Relocation assessments

During pharmacy assessments, the College’s Pharmacy Practice Consultant will work with the pharmacist-in-charge to ensure regulatory requirements and standards are being met and provide recommendations for implementing best practices. Pharmacists-in-charge will have the opportunity to ask questions to better understand and apply the regulations and standards that pertain to their pharmacy practice and operations.

Pharmacy Self-Assessments

Pharmacists-in-charge are required to complete a pharmacy self-assessment at least one week before scheduled site visits. The self-assessment supports the pharmacist-in-charge in preparing for the pharmacy assessment by facilitating a review of the practice site to identify any areas of concern or unmet requirements. The self-assessment also assists the College’s Pharmacy Practice Consultant in identifying key areas for review and developing recommendations for addressing areas of concern.
