NLPB Registrar Announces Retirement

It is with heartfelt gratitude for her decade of dedicated service that the Newfoundland and Labrador Pharmacy Board (NLPB) announces the retirement of Margot Priddle from the position of Registrar.

Margot Priddle, Registrar, NLPB

It was in Margot’s first year as Registrar that the Pharmacy Act, 2012 was enacted, ushering in a period of change and advancement to the profession and its regulation. Under Margot’s leadership pharmacists expanded their scope of practice to include prescribing and administration of drug therapy by inhalation or injection, pharmacy technicians became regulated health professionals, a quality assurance program was established to promote high standards of practice within the pharmacy profession, and a provincial framework for medical assistance in dying was developed in collaboration with other provincial health regulators.

In recent years, Margot’s experience and expertise have served to navigate a challenging time for healthcare in our province during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her guidance ensured that public safety and accessibility of medication and health care services were prioritized, even in the most difficult of circumstances. Margot’s dedication to public protection and continuous quality improvement has placed NLPB on solid footing to continue the important regulatory work necessary to achieve its vision of advancing pharmacy care for a safe and healthy community.

“On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Margot for her remarkable service to the pharmacy profession and commitment to public health and safety,” said NLPB Board Chair, Taggarty Norris. “We wish her the best in her well-deserved retirement; she will be greatly missed.”

NLPB has contracted Knightsbridge Robertson Surrette to begin the process of recruiting a new Registrar.
