We are pleased to announce Noelle Patten’s appointment to the position of Registrar and CEO of the Newfoundland and Labrador Pharmacy Board (NLPB). Ms. Patten’s appointment follows an extensive recruitment process to find a leader with a strategic vision and demonstrated commitment to protecting the public interest. Ms. Patten will be replacing Registrar Margot Priddle, who will be retiring after serving 10 years in the position.
Ms. Patten brings significant knowledge and skills as a pharmacist, leader, regulator, and health executive. She has a long history with NLPB, having held the role of Associate Registrar – Quality Assurance and Licensing for the past 7 years, and having previously served as a Pharmacy Practice Advisor. She is committed to evidence-informed practice improvement, and in her time as Associate Registrar, she led the development and implementation of NLPB’s first quality assurance program. She also spent time managing registration and licensing, participated in the development of regulatory standards and policies, and supported the Registrar in the overall management of the organization. Through conducting NLPB business and serving on numerous provincial and national committees Noelle has built strong, trusting relationships at each opportunity. The insights gained and relationships forged during her career in pharmacy self-regulation will serve as an asset to NLPB and will ensure that pharmacy plays a key role within the changing landscape of the provincial health system.
Ms. Patten has also shown her commitment to quality care and the development of pharmacy professionals through serving as a course content developer and instructor at Memorial University’s School of Pharmacy, where she created content to educate students on quality and safety theory and its application within the health system.
“The committee was impressed by Ms. Patten’s energy and experience and believes in her ability to take NLPB forward as we work to support pharmacy professionals in providing the best possible care to meet the health needs of the public they serve,” said Taggarty Norris, Chair of the Board.
Ms. Patten received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Memorial University and completed a Master of Health Management at McMaster University. In addition, she has received her Certified Health Executive (CHE) Designation from the Canadian College of Health Leaders. She has also engaged in significant and ongoing professional development to understand the unique and contemporary challenges faced by both pharmacy professionals and the health system as a whole. Her extensive background and education in both pharmacy and health policy, combined with her skill as a health administrator, make Ms. Patten a valuable leader and will enable NLPB to continue to meet its duty to public protection while advancing the practice of pharmacy in the province.
“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to serve the Pharmacy Board in a greater capacity. I have built so many strong relationships during my time here – with staff, partners, stakeholders, and the pharmacy community. I love working with the NLPB staff and Board of Directors, and I look forward to leading NLPB to achieve its mission and vision as we move forward,” said Ms. Patten upon the news of her appointment.
NLPB would like to extend its gratitude to the search committee for their time spent working with KBRS Executive Search on this critical hire for the organization.
Ms. Patten will begin her role as Registrar and CEO starting on September 19, 2022.
Congratulations Noelle! |
